Geo-Logix Welcomes Ivan Neralic to the Queensland Office

Ivan Neralic Principal Contaminated Land at Geo-LogixIvan Neralic has joined Geo-Logix as Contaminated Land Principal in the company’s Queensland office. Ivan graduated with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Queensland in 1996 and “hit the ground working” in contaminated land management.

Ivan has worked all over the state from Townsville to Toowoomba, and Chinchilla to Charleville. Sites he has worked on include gasworks, service stations, depots, power plants, timber yards and residential developments, dealing in contamination in soil, groundwater and vapour with a range of contaminants including heavy metals, hydrocarbons, asbestos and solvents.

“I like the problem-solving aspects of the job,” said Ivan. “The opportunity to think outside the norm and to find more efficient, more effective commercial solutions to assessing, managing and/or remediating contaminated land.”

“Projects can last from a month to several years,” said Ivan. “I enjoy really getting to know the clients and building relationships.”

In his time in the industry, Ivan has faced a number of challenges. “On the first day in a new job, I was presented with a $3 million project that unbeknownst to anyone was carrying a $2 million risk. It took months of reviewing costs and scopes to identify the source of the issue and to develop feasible alternatives that would keep the project within budget but meet the client’s objectives.”

“In the end, we met our original objectives well within the original budget, and there were enough funds remaining for the client to broaden their objects, undertake further work and still remain within the budget.”

When he’s not assessing soil and groundwater samples or developing remedial action plans, Ivan does kettlebell strength training, teaches kung fu and runs women’s self defence classes.

Geo-Logix welcomes Ivan to the team.
